I am completely grateful for receiving the King of Clubs Scholarship to move forward with my education at the University of Florida. We're now reaching mid-semester and I have taken up several opportunities presented by my school. One, is joining UF's chapter of the Wildlife Society. As well as getting to know the Gainesville area. I am excited to do more with my education.

As a Freshman Academic Scholar on the highest of the seven hills, attending FAMU, I wanted to provide a brief update on my Fall Semester Activities. I am thankful to be a past scholarship recipient of your organization. If there is anything I can do to assist your organization, please let me know.

With newfound experiences as a freshman in college comes confronting social renewal and elevated standards of academic responsibility. Whether it be setting a consistent routine between 8:00 a.m. classes or finding time to practice community involvement in clubs and enrichment events, college has presented me with a new set of challenges separate from the cycles of high school. Yet, these challenges prove the value of having pursued a higher education in my love for art and illustration as I have come to learn what fulfillment can look like within my daily life. Thank you again to the King of Clubs scholarship and its generous donors that provide students like me the financial opportunity and support as we leave our nests and explore beyond ourselves!

“Thank you to the King of Clubs Greater Miami for believing in me and selecting me as a 2023 Scholarship Recipient. I’ve been able to live comfortably and not stress about finances during my first year at FAMU, and for that I appreciate and thank you very much! #GoRattlers”.

"With the help of Mr. Butler & the King of Clubs of Greater Miami Scholarship, I was able to strive for greatness. This scholarship has kept me motivated during difficult times, helped through my financial challenges, and continuously reminded me to keep going! Currently, I am in the master's program proceeding Sports Management. As a graduate student-athlete that attends Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University. This scholarship has helped me not just on, but off the field as well. Thank you to the King of Clubs of Greater Miami Inc."

"Your organization help me start this journey of growth back in 2013 and I will forever be grateful. Since receiving the scholarship, I attend Florida State University for my undergraduate experience. In 2014, after my first year, I joined the US Army National Guard. I am currently still serving and training, ready for the next time they need me."

"This Scholarship really helped me as a student matriculate through Spelman College. As a first generation student, I had no idea of some of the expenses that I would have in college and this scholarship really helped to take care of some of those things."

In 2013, I was awarded the King of Clubs of Greater Miami Inc. Scholarship, for which I am extremely grateful. The scholarship allowed me to attend the college of my dreams, Morehouse College. Being able to attend Morehouse was a blessing. It provides me with a safe space and allowed me to surround myself with brilliant individuals who looked “exactly like me”. I was able to grow and learn in ways that I wouldn’t have been at any other institution. While at Morehouse I majored in Biology on a premed track. I was giving the opportunity to intern in different states including Atlanta, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey; gaining experience in clinical research and urban education. I have currently graduated and am looking to apply to medical school for the 2021 cycle.

"Receiving The King of Clubs of Greater Miami Inc Scholarship really help me start off college in a great manner. Becoming a scholarship recipient I was able to afford my laptop for school, which without it I would have greatly been set back since this is an essential. Being awarded this scholarship meant a lot to me; it reminded me of my accomplishments thus far. It led me into college with a lot of confidence. Since graduating high school and being in college I have established myself, I am now on an executive board, an active member of W.E.B DuBois Honor Society, an active member of Black Women in Medicine and excelling in my academics. Without the confidence that The King of Clubs of Greater Miami Inc. gave me, especially at the scholarship banquet, my current experiences would be very different."

I am a Program Coordinator within the Office of Diversity and Inclusion at Florida International University’s Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine in Miami, Florida. I received my B.A. from the University of Miami in May 2017 and graduated with a Master’s in Public Health from FIU in April 2019 before working there full-time. Since 2014, I have dedicated my summers to working with PeerForward, a national organization focused on guiding high school students from low-income communities to higher education. In my current position, I am now taking it a step further by supporting minority undergraduate students through the FSTAR Fellowship. This multi-year program heightens students’ sense of purpose and commitment to a medical career, enables them to identify and address barriers to their matriculation to medical school, and offers career counseling and mentoring to prepare them for the application process and matriculation. I am a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, as well as a member of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society, Gamma Sigma Alpha National Greek Academic Honor Society, and Rho Lambda National Panhellenic Leadership Recognition Society. I plan to continue my education by earning a doctorate in public health, where I intend to study health disparities and how factors such as race, life events, education, and income play a role in how African Americans react to stressful situations, the manner in which others treat us in society, and how these actions can produce varied health outcomes.

"I want to thank you and the King of Clubs of Greater Miami organization for seeing something in me at the time I didn’t see in myself, to invest in my future to afford me opportunities I didn’t know was reachable once upon a time. I’m currently in my last semester at the University of Florida and major in Sport Management. I’ve also worked to be in the position to currently intern with the University of Florida football as a Student Assistant football coach. "
